NAME: Nathan L. McMillen
AGE: I’m over 30, but still in the “cool” demographic — for now…
BIO: I along with my wife, Joy McMillen, are co-founders of the McMillen family currently of Jacksonville, Florida. This is a grass-roots movement to train up a couple of rug-rats in the way they should go, so that one day when they are old, they will not depart from it.
Born just outside of St. Louis, Missouri on the Illinois side of the Mississippi, I moved around quite a bit due to my family being a pastoral family and me being too young to do anything about the moving around
. After Illinois, we lived in Indiana and Florida. I have since moved around a bit from Tampa back to Indiana, then to Memphis for a stint, back to Tampa and now Jacksonville.
I have been married to my lovely wife, Joy since 2000 (I guess we partied like it was 1999). We have two kids, a dog and a mortgage. Wishing I didn’t have to pay for one of them – I’ll let you guess which one. <Hint> I like my kids and my dog – and my wife.
Music has always been a passion of mine. I like it all, if it’s done well. I have done time as a Praise and Worship Director, a Worship Leader and church Musician/Vocalist. My musical passion now is playing and singing uplifting songs about the Saviour who found me, grabbed a hold of me and never let go. I am forever changed and forever free because of what Jesus has done for me.
I use humor a lot, sometimes awkwardly and oftentimes inappropriately. It may be genetic, and I don’t think it skips a generation – sorry, Joy. In my spare time, I like to travel with my family, write music, read, geek out over new technology, beat my kids playing Wii – and as is evidenced by you reading this – I have taken up blogging.
My wife and I are a part of a new church plant in Jacksonville called The Crossing Church. We will be launching in September of 2011. If you live in the area, come check it out.
